Dual Career Employment Assistance Program

The DUAL CAREER EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM is designed to facilitate the employment process for partners of newly recruited or relocating Penn State faculty and staff. Clients can utilize the Program at any point of the recruitment or relocation process, and the Program will provide assistance for up to one year after relocation.

The Program Coordinator can provide information, support, and assistance about employment at Penn State, as well as in the Centre Region and can make referrals as appropriate. However, the Program is not for job placement and does not guarantee employment for clients. Penn State does not fund or create positions for dual career partners and is not responsible for the hiring practices of local employers to which referrals are made.

While one member of the dual career couple may be a candidate for a position or a recent hire, both are welcome to meet with the Dual Career Coordinator to discuss the interests of the other. Individuals may be referred to the Program by the hiring department or may contact the Program on their own.

The Coordinator is available to meet with Program participants to explore employment interests and to discuss job search strategies. In cases where distance or other circumstances prevent personal meetings, the Coordinator can work with individuals through written or electronic correspondence or through telephone contact.

Examples of services provided by the Program:

  • Provide an orientation to the community
  • Discuss possible job opportunities
  • Address potential barriers to employment
  • Assist with revising and updating resume
  • Discuss University hiring process
  • Work with the Provost's Office to explore opportunities for academic positions
  • Circulate resumes
  • Generate networking leads
  • Develop job search strategies
