Awards Committee
Through the Staff Recognition and Appreciation program, the Council honors the many staff members who regularly see potential in others, go the extra mile in a specific situation, and simply make life better for those around them.
All full-time staff are eligible and anyone at the University - administrators, faculty, staff, technical-service personnel, or students – may submit nominations. Every nomination is considered on its own merit with no comparisons among nominees. Through the recognition program, the Council acknowledges as many deserving people as possible. Nominations will be reviewed regularly, with honorees recognized at Council meetings scheduled throughout the year.

Safety Ad Hoc Committee
The Safety Committee addresses topics concerning safety at the University. One of our main focus areas is Automated External Defibrillators at Penn State (AEDs). An AED is a portable medical device capable of being used by non-medical personnel on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). In the United States nearly 1,000 individuals die from SCA each day. There are many AEDs located at Penn State and many PSU employees are trained to use them.
It is the goal of the SAC safety committee to provide input to the central administration about AEDs and safety at the University and communicate information to University staff. The committee is also considering other safety topics and welcomes input from the PSU community.
